“DAP Mixed Blind Cricket Competition 2022”

On the auspicious Occasion of 112th International Women’s Day, Cricket Association of the Blind, Nepal Organized a mixed blind cricket competition on 10th March at Mulpani cricket ground. Since this competition was dedicated to girls with visual impairments to make them feel equal before men, both the boys and girls with visual impairments were made to play from the same team. There were  14 girls and 14 boys playing from Kathmandu and Lalitpur teams . Bating firstKathmandu made only 143 in an allocated 20 overs , while Lalitpur chased the target just in a 14.2 overs. Mr. Ramesh Bania from boys group and Ms. Sarita Ghimire  among the girls became player of the match. The players were awarded with trophy, cash and certificate by the Chief-Guest Her Excellency Felicity Volk –The Australian Ambassador to Nepal and special guest Ms. Bindu Simkhada, theDeputy Mayor of Kageswori Manahara Municipality. Prior to the prize distribution, both the Guests- Her Excellency Felicity Volk and Deputy Mayor Ms.  Bindu Simkhada were asked to play cricket with blind fold in their eyes. This competition was organized by  the financial support of Government of Australia under their Direct Aid Project.
