On the auspicious occasion of its 15th Anniversary, Cricket Association of the Blind, Nepal awarded its three women cricketers by Jyoti K.C Blind Women Cricket Talent Award 2020. The recipients are the national team captain- Ms Bhagwati Bhattarai from B3 category, wicketkeeper batswoman- Mankeshi Choudhary from b2 category and Batswoman-Ms. Asha Regami from b1 category.
Ms Bhagwati has been playing cricket for the last fourteen years and taken the role of team captain in two international matches against U.K and Pakistan in 2019 and bears a glorious record of winning both the games.
Ms Mankeshi appeared in the cricket pitch ten years back and has set out many national and international records. She is the highest scorer in the whole world and became player of the series in both the international matches against U.K and Pakistan.
Last but not the least, Ms Asha started her career in cricket since 2007 and has stood best player in many national and international matches. She also became player of the game in one of the matches against Pakistan in 2019. The winner received a cash prize of Rs. 5000, certificate and a trophy.
This award has been established by Miss Jyoti K.C, a renowned social worker in the field of disability. Ms KC has contributed all her life for the betterment of people with disabilities and others in need.
While thanking media, donors, partners, well-wishers, players, coaches and umpires for their inevitable contribution in bringing cricket of the blind to this stage, Mr Pawan Ghimire also announced to launch a similar award for the men’s cricketers from the next year as well.
CAB Nepal has been celebrating August 7th as the blind cricket day since 2007.
