Blind Cricketer Mankeshi Receives Para Athlete Award

Mankeshi Chaudhary, a wicket keeper batswoman of national blind cricket team won the title para-athlete of the year award in the Pulsar sports award organized by Sports Journalists Forum for the year 2075. Mankeshi, who hails from Bara Districts is a low vision b2 player made mammoth of 1822 runs and stood player of the series and player of the match in two consecutive matches in the ever first international blind women cricket series held in Pakistan from Jan 28 to Feb 04, 2019, in different cities of Pakistan.

In the function held at Nepal Pragya bhawan amidst the huge crowd of sports lovers, Mr. Jevon Ram Shrestha, the President of Nepal Olympic Committee handed over trophy to her. Mankeshi received cash worth fifty-thousands and other gifts as well. When asked about her feeling after receiving  the award, Mankeshi responded, ”what I still feel as am in a dream. Despite of my blindness and hardship that I am bearing due to my blindness, today is the most proud moment for me and now I do not have any reason to repent with my blindness. Today’s honor was beyond my expectation. After this, I hope many other blind girls like me will dare to play cricket. Thank you to all for this great honor.”
