Project: Mainstreaming Inclusive Sports in Nepal

Contract Period: 3 Years (yearly renewal based on performance evaluation)

Duty Station: Kathmandu, with regular field visits

1. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer

Reports To: Project Manager

The MEAL Officer will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning systems for the project. The role ensures activities are effectively monitored, data is accurate and timely, and lessons learned inform adaptive management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement the project MEAL Plan aligned with the Logical Framework.
  • Track progress against outputs, outcomes, and indicators using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Conduct routine data collection, verification, analysis, and visualization.
  • Support baseline, midline, and end line assessments.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to ensure quality and compliance.

Reporting & Information Management:

  • Maintain accurate databases and MEAL tracking systems.
  • Contribute verified data to donor reports and prepare internal MEAL reports, dashboards, and progress updates.
  • Document results, success stories, and lessons learned.

Accountability & Learning:

  • Design and manage community feedback and complaints mechanisms.
  • Facilitate learning reviews, reflection sessions, and after-action reviews.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for adaptive management.
  • Build capacity of project staff and partners on MEAL tools, data collection, and reporting.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Ensure compliance with donor contractual obligations, including visibility and communication requirements.
  • Maintain ethical standards, confidentiality, and compliance with CAB’s Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Public Administration, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) for development or sports inclusion projects.
  • Experience with EU-funded or donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, reporting, and database management.
  • Experience in designing and managing feedback mechanisms and accountability systems.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools, indicators, and logical frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze and visualize data using Excel, SPSS, Power BI, or other relevant tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and GESI principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team.

Deliverables

  • Approved MEAL Plan aligned with the donor Logical Framework
  • Routine monitoring and evaluation reports
  • Data quality assurance (DQA) reports
  • Baseline, midline, and end line assessment inputs
  • Community feedback and accountability reports
  • Documentation of results, success stories, and lessons learned

2. Project Associate

Reports To: Project Manager

The Project Associate will provide administrative, coordination, logistical, and field-level support to ensure effective project implementation. The position supports inclusive sports programming, stakeholder coordination, documentation, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support:

  • Support planning and implementation of project activities.
  • Assist partners, local organizations, and stakeholders in conducting inclusive sports initiatives within Kathmandu and other project areas.
  • Provide logistical and operational support during project activities, trainings, workshops, competitions, and events.

Coordination:

  • Coordinate with local governments, sports organizations, CSOs, and OPDs.
  • Assist in organizing coordination meetings, consultations, and field visits.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Maintain project documentation, attendance sheets, and event records.
  • Assist in data collection, verification, and reporting with the MEAL Officer.

Safeguarding & Inclusion:

  • Promote safeguarding, child protection, Gender Equality, and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles in all activities.
  • Ensure meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in project activities.
  • Support documentation of best practices, case studies, and project publications.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sports Management, Development Studies, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination, administration, or logistics.
  • Experience in inclusive sports, disability inclusion, or community-based projects is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with documentation, reporting, and data collection.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage logistics for events, workshops, and field activities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in English and Nepali.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and GESI principles.
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and in a team.
